Wet Weather

Our goal is always to get the players on the field, however we have to balance this with player safety and damage to the grounds.

ALWAYS ASSUME TRAINING OR MATCHES ARE ON!!

  • Always assume training and/or matches are on regardless of the weather or the Council’s ground availability.
  • You will receive communication by someone at Wahroonga Club if games have been cancelled or training is off.
  • The SJRU makes every effort possible to move games to other fields with better drainage or areas where the weather has not impacted the grounds.

HOW WILL YOU KNOW AND WHEN WILL YOU KNOW?

  • Wet weather announcements for training and for games - including changes to venue and/or whether Cliff Oval is closed - will be communicated from the club.
  • We will use our Facebook and Instagram page or other social media channels such as our Whatsapp community.  Once teams are formed each Team Manager will also provide training night and games management via our scheduling system Teamsnap.
  • The decision on closing Cliff Oval for training  will be made no earlier than 3pm on the day of training.
  • On game day the decision to close Cliff Oval will be made with enough time for Wahroonga players and visiting teams to adjust their plans, whether they need to travel to another venue or the games are off.

THE COUNCIL WEBSITE SAYS THE GROUNDS ARE CLOSED - ARE THERE GAMES ON?

  • Council do update their website in respect of ground closures across the area.
  • The Club works with the Council in any significant  rainy periods to determine whether games or training will be called off and/or whether one of the ovals can be used.
  • Council will make a considered decision with the club for the community.
  • Council's website is a guide - please wait for contact from a Club Official.

Many of the Committee Members live locally in Wahroonga close to Cliff Oval and know when that rain or stormy weather is causing havoc. We all have the BOM Radar and can see that weather coming! Please don't panic - a Club Official will contact you about your training or your game.   We want you to play but be kind to the person driving you to the game in wet weather... go grab an old towel for the car and a change of clothes and your team will see you at the game!
