At the Wahroonga Tigers Rugby Club there are a number of opportunities for girls to get involved with playing rugby. Rugby is a game for all and girls from 6 years up to 12 years of age can play junior club rugby here at the Tigers.We have two different pathways available, the all girls pathway, which is outlined below, and the mixed sex pathway, which follows a rugby pathway playing in mixed teams with the boys. Which pathway is right for you and your daughter is totally up to you!All Girls Pathway- The Wahroonga Pinks The all girl teams at Wahroonga are called the Pinks! They proudly sport their amazing Pink socks, and apart from that, their uniform is Tigers through and through! The camaraderie of the all girls teams is incredible and life long friendships look to have been made over the last few seasons, from both players and parents!Under 5 – Under 7 In the under 5s – under 7s, girls will compete in our non-contact 7-a-side tag rugby competition, in an all girls team, that will play on Saturday mornings in the Gordon District Minis Competition.Sydney North Girls competitionThis is the 4th year running for this all-girls rugby 7s competition and it is growing bigger and better each year. Wahroonga Tigers have been involved in the competition since 2018 and the competition has grown to include all girl’s teams from the Warringah, Gordon and Manly districts. It is a festival atmosphere and the spirit of the game is at its finest! The 2020 competition has 3 age groups as follows:Under 8In the under 8’s tackling is introduced to the game and it is 7 aside play. The girls play in the Sydney North Girls competition which is run at Terry Hills rugby club from 8am every Saturday. The U8’s play SJRU minis rules with 1 x 20 min game played each week.Under 9/10 The under 9/10 girls play rugby 7s rules in the Sydney North Girls competition and play for the Tui Ormbsy Cup. In this age group the girls play 2 x 20 min games each week which runs between 9-10am each week.Under 11/12The under 11/12 girls play rugby 7s rules in the Sydney North Girls competition and play for the Emily Robinson Cup. In this age group the girls play 2 x 20 min games each week which runs between 11am-1pm each week.With girls rugby a growing sport amongst the local schools and the success of the Australian Womens 7s Rugby team, now is your chance to become part of the inaugural Wahroonga Pinks.
