About Wahroonga Rugby Club

Wahroonga Rugby Club is a not-for-profit junior rugby club founded in 1962, administered by parent volunteers.  Our community has almost 500 active participants. Unlike most other rugby clubs, we don’t have a senior club – so it really is all about the kids.

Although our club is a junior rugby club, we do offer something for everyone, aged 4 to 82:

Minis Ages 4-9

Juniors Ages 10-17

Golden Oldies (Toothless Tigers) Ages 35 to 82 (or older, if you’re keen)

Kids from our Under 11 and Under 12 age groups have the opportunity to tour Japan every second year – Tigers families reciprocate, hosting our Japanese friends from Sanda when they tour Australia every other year.

When you join the Tigers, you become part of a much broader community. As they grow, we encourage our players to ‘give back’ to the club by refereeing or mentoring younger Tigers at training.

Our Baristas and bar staff are players, ex-players or their siblings, all trained through the club, all gaining experience they can take to future jobs. Many past parents and ex-players are still actively involved in our Tigers Community.

Our clubhouse, renovated in 2009, provides a wonderful facility for club meetings and WRC fundraising or social events. The view of the game from the balcony – right on the sideline – is awesome!

On Friday nights, the ‘Tiger Tavern’ serves bottled beer and wine and the canteen is open for food, snacks and soft drinks. Many of our parents catch up on a Friday night at the Tavern, cheering on the Tigers from our clubhouse balcony.

Every Sunday afternoon, the Toothless Tigers (our Golden Oldies) welcome parents, players, siblings and friends to join them for touch footy – and more than a few laughs!
