Wahroonga Tigers – Developing Great Kids Through Rugby

Girls Rugby at Wahroonga

At the Wahroonga Tigers Rugby Club there are a number of opportunities for girls to get involved with playing rugby. Rugby is a game for all and girls from 6 years up to 12 years of age can play junior club rugby and participate in mixed sex XV-a-side modified competitions. In the under 6s and under 7s girls will compete in our non-contact 7-a-side tag rugby competition. In the under 8s tackling is introduced to the game then player numbers increase to 10 a side in the under 9s. For the under 10s and under 11s, there are 12 players a side. From the age of Under 10s through Under 12s, girls can compete alongside boys for the honour of representing our Gordon District at State Championships. In 2018, Wahroonga Tigers established girl only teams, the Wahroonga Pinks.
Whilst player numbers will determine the final team makeup, we are aiming to have as many teams as possible and where possible we will combine ages and play down older players to ensure we have complete and competitive girl teams. Female players are welcome to play in mixed teams if they choose. In 2014 the Gordon District established our very own Gordon Girls 7 program. In 2017 Wahroonga Tigers had a number of players compete in this competition which starts at the under 10s.
With girls rugby a growing sport amongst the local schools and the success of the Australian Womens 7s Rugby team, now is your chance to become part of the inaugural Wahroonga Pinks.
