Minis kids begin to develop their skills in Rugby and in life, meeting new friends, learning what it’s like being part of a team and having a great time out in the fresh air.

Juniors Rugby | Ages 10 to Opens Learning skills of Rugby – and life

Teamwork, respect, integrity, determination, working hard, how to handle set-backs and being humble in success. Just some of the life skills our kids learn playing Rugby at WRC.

Fostering a sense of community

Wahroonga Rugby Club is a not-for-profit junior rugby club administered by parent volunteers with an average playing group of around 400 kids.

When you join the Tigers you become part of a much broader community. As they grow, we encourage our players to ‘give back’ to the club by refereeing or mentoring younger Tigers at training.

Our Baristas and bar staff are players, ex-players or their siblings, all trained through the club, all gaining experience they can take to future jobs. Many past parents and ex-players are still actively involved in our Tigers Community.

Our clubhouse, renovated in 2009, provides a wonderful facility for club meetings and WRC fundraising or social events. The view of the game from the balcony – right on the sideline – is awesome!

On Friday nights, the ‘Tiger Tavern’ serves bottled beer and wine and the canteen is open for food, snacks and soft drinks. Many of our parents catch up on a Friday night at the Tavern, cheering on the Tigers from our clubhouse balcony.

Every Sunday afternoon, the Toothless Tigers (our Golden Oldies) welcome parents, players, siblings and friends to join them for touch footy – and more than a few laughs!

Experience Rugby – and life – in Japan

Since 1997, Wahroonga Rugby Club has enjoyed a reciprocal touring arrangement with Japanese Rugby Club, Sanda.

Every second year, players from the U11 & U12 age groups have an opportunity to travel to Sanda – in the Hyogo prefecture of Japan – to be billeted with families of players from Sanda Rugby Club.

The tour lasts about 8-10 days and apart from playing a lot of rugby, our Tigers get to experience life in Japan with a Japanese family PLUS a lot of other cool stuff like riding a bullet train, having fun at Universal Studios and visiting culturally significant sites such as Hiroshima.

Old Tigers don’t die. They become Toothless…

Golden Oldies Rugby is especially for players aged thirty-five and over. It provides enjoyment for players of all abilities and focuses on participation rather than winning. Golden Oldies Rugby is not too hard-hitting and definitely more social!

The Wahroonga Toothless Tigers play touch footy every Sunday at Cliff Oval – meet the guys, join them for a game of touch and maybe sign up to play!
